    His Motorbike, Her Island

    ★★★★★

An extremely beautiful film that just makes you want to fall in love with someone and share the thing you love most with them (in this case escaping society by riding a motorbike through beautiful landscapes).

His Motorbike, her Island just has it all. It’s a gorgeously shot and edited film with great music, memorable characters and a good story.

At this point I think Ōbayashi could do no wrong. One of the greatest filmmakers of all time.

    Shin Ultraman

    ★★★★½

Shin Ultraman is a gorgeously shot and fast paced modernization of Ultraman with phenomenal Kaiju/Superhero action and surprisingly good comedy.

This movie is such a blast.

While Shin Godzilla is probably the better movie, I think I personally prefer Shin Ultraman just because it’s more action focused. That being said I love both movies.

Shin Kamen Rider can‘t come soon enough.

The film much more works after the philosophy of „Show don’t tell“ (compared to Nolan’s other work at least. I found it to be less exposition heavy than Interstellar or Inception. I guess it’s philosophy is more „show, but also tell when it’s required“). It’s smart, yet simple. That being said, there are still…

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

    ★★★½

„The Rise of Skywalker“ is almost like the complete opposite of what „The Last Jedi“ was.

It’s fun, has a lot of Action and is filled with Fanservice. This is not a takedown on TLJ. I honestly really like that film, but it was much slower and character focused than any other Star Wars film.

TLJ’s and TROS‘s story themes are complete opposites of each other. TLJ was about forgetting the past and moving on. TROS is about the past…
