Randal Silvey’s review published on Letterboxd:
There is such a quiet sadness to this film. The remake makes some worthwhile improvements on this film. Mainly, the lead being a stronger character but I do like the lead here. The ex having psychic sensitivity is odd. If random psychics/telepaths exist in this world the fact that Shizuko & Sadako have powers seems slightly less extraordinary. However, its an atmospheric classic & a great horror concept even if it is somewhat bound to the technology of the time.
