    Alex Garland's directorial début is a brilliantly literary approach to the age old question of Artificial Intelligence and what it means to be human. Not only that but it also looks at gender roles digging into rich feminist subtext. It also contains three fantastic performances from its leads Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac and Alicia Vikander who manage to carry this film only their shoulder though it does help that it is fantastically written by its director. With a beautifully ominous score and gorgeous cinematography this is a fantastic film that is essential for all fans of thoughtful sci-fi.

    Matthew Vaughn is known for bombastic, energy filled films that balance action and laughs while also embracing genre conventions and fuelling it with his sadistic sense of humour. Though the story is well worn territory Vaughn's take makes it unique and a whole lot of fun. Strong performances from the whole cast with Samuel L. Jackson being the stand out with his lisp. I look forward to more from Taron Egerton and Sophie Cookson who are two promising young talent.…
