This film pushes so many buttons, and challenges so many taboos, it's hard to represent without giving the wrong idea. On the surface Funny Games (both the original and the remake, as they're both directed by Michael Haneke and identical-shot-for-shot.) is nihilist and punk rock (and it is!), but there is SO much commentary in the subtext.
There are themes of social misogynistic standards, violence and its portrayal in culture, white privilege and class. It can be exhausting (in the way Requiem for a Dream is emotionally draining, but watch it. Write down how it makes you feel.
