While not feeling the "Movie of the year!" buzz that the critics are, this is a decent film in its own right. It's simple but beautiful cinematography makes me wish I had seen it in theaters. I've never been a Charlie Hunnam fan but he's good in this, as is his supporting cast. I can't think of a time when I haven't seen Sienna Miller deliver a quality performance and this is no exception.

    Their Finest

A fun, cute wartime movie that is a little longer than it needs to be but doesn't overstay its welcome. It was a little disorienting to watch after having seen Christopher Nolan's "Dunkirk" a few weeks earlier. Gemma Arterton and Sam Clafin have a natural, unforced chemistry which is rare to see nowadays.

Nothing to contribute that hasn't already been produced by the orgy of bad reviews. This one should have been much better due to the cast.

Seems like every movie released nowadays is either a prestige piece, a box office bonanza with roided out dudes and/or robots destroying a city while trying to kill each other because fragile masculinity, or an indie where the white person goes out into the world to find themselves. Movies are supposed to be fun, dammit and "The Nice Guys" does a great job of reminding us why. Good cast, good lines, good from start-to-finish. I wish Shane Black made a movie like this every year. Hopefully now that he's freed from Marvel's greasy tentacles, he can go back to doing what he does best.
