A few minutes into Pan a huge crowd of lost boys sing songs by Nirvana and the Ramones as a bald wig wearing Hugh Jackman struts around on a floating boat singing along as if he were back on the set of Les Mis. This was not what I asked for but I'm glad I received it.
La La Land truly is a beautiful, beautiful film. Emma Stone singing her Audition song made me feel what Julie Andrews singing My Favorite Things to the Von Trapp children during the thunderstorm in The Sound of Music and Kermit opening The Muppet Movie sitting on a log playing The Rainbow Connection on a banjo made me feel as a child. I felt invincible. I felt safe.
