reagan’s review published on Letterboxd:
fucking fantastic. SO formally inventive. and SUCH a basic and almost comedically simplistic and problematic storyline — there’s no reason for this to work as well as it does, but the positively wild stylistic choices and riveting performances from both Ricci and Gallo somehow bring it all together. not totally sold on the early scene with Billy’s parents (it’s all just a bit too cartoonish for my tastes; tonally the sequence doesn’t quite mesh with the rest of the film, the comedy is too broad), but everything before and after that is absolutely aces. inspiring shit, tbh, I wish more people were making movies like this.
