    Little Fish

Tonight I noticed the director of this film liked this review and that made my day.

This is #1 on my favorites list (it’s short) because the first few watches were the most impactful I’ve ever experienced with any film, and I still love it.

Borrows from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but is its own thing. This pandemic sci-fi romance is near perfection. A beautiful and heartbreaking tale of memory, love, and loss that will stick with you long after…

    Another Earth

Now THIS is how you do sci-fi.
I’ve seen this at least 7 times and it’s one of my favorite films (list is short. Recently added a few).

Plot: Tragedy connects a young woman and a shattered music professor as an exact replica of Earth is discovered.

This Sundance award-winning gem expertly captures the feelings of guilt, grief, and in the end, redemption.

A prime example of “less is more” filmmaking. Another Earth cost only $100k to make. Similar Hollywood…

    Bobo: I like you.
Klara: I like you a hell of a lot too.

Just watched this underseen Swedish gem for at least the 5th time and it’s one of my 16 favorite films

A female punk rock coming-of-age masterpiece that makes me laugh and smile throughout.

”Sometimes I swear the end can’t come soon enough.”

Best apocalypse film imo. Think of it as Australian Melancholia. I like that movie, but I prefer this one.
Why? Because it’s 90 minutes or less (the key to my heart) and not well over 2 hours, a horse isn’t abused, it’s Australian (I’m half), and it has Angourie Rice, the most adorable actress in existence.
This was her first role. Age 12. She KILLS it.

I’ve seen this at least 3…

Two years ago today my favorite film, Little Fish, got its official US release. This was the perfect excuse to rewatch it.
I also rewatch it every year on October 14th for Emma & Jude Day (their wedding anniversary).

A more traditional review can be found here.

I’ve seen it at least 7 times and I plan to rewatch it consistently until I develop NIA and forget it exists.

    Currently streaming on Hulu (US).

I remember learning about it randomly from a Hulu…

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

    “Meet me in Montauk.”

This is one of my favorite films (list is short).

Brilliant direction, concept, screenplay, and performances.

    Full of powerful moments.

That being said, I wish the memory eraser people weren’t so fucking awful. These “professionals” mocked Joel, ate his food, drank his booze, etc.

Would give 5 stars if they removed Elijah Wood’s character, Patrick. He consistently got on my nerves.

I love the music during their first phone call. Otherwise I think the score is hit or miss.

    Great ending.

    I highly recommend it!
