Tenet

Tenet ★★★★½

moves further in the direction of dunkirk re: paring down an already terse filmmaker's language into something even more broad and blindly propulsive; where many find nolan's exposition dumps punishing, i found the jagged delivery of them here oddly liberating, striking precisely the right balance of over-articulate and vague for me to lose myself in/never feel bored with.

also, i understand what about nolan's abstraction may feel constrictive but something about its contradictions and rigidity still, after all these years, feels deeply charming. will never try to convince anyone who finds this stupid or interminable (or Not Worth... It) otherwise, but goddamn this was such a tonic for me. felt good to be actively excited by a new hollywood release again.
