Waves is definitely a movie of two halves. The first half boasts an absolutely killer soundtrack, super cool blue and red neon lights and an amazing lead performance from Kelvin Harrison Jr. To be honest, every performance throughout the entire movie is perfection, but he definitely steals the show in this half. Everything from the soundtrack to the camerawork and storyline is completely chaotic and attacks the senses, but I was all over this and…

This may be my most anticipated movie of all time, and that is always a scary feeling. It is one of the most hyped movies basically ever, and my expectations were so high, but Parasite somehow managed to exceed them.

First, can we just talk about those performances. I’ve obviously never seen any of these actors in a movie before, and I thought each and every actor was fantastic and captured their character perfectly. The movie looked stunning, particularly the…

Relied a little too heavily on jump scares, yet some were actually pretty effective and there was some decent horror imagery alongside it, so I didn’t mind a great deal. I found the premise to be pretty unique; although it largely ended up being a haunted house horror, the set-up was really fresh and new and I like the religious approach. The performances were good, the movie didn’t overstay it’s welcome and it got under my skin a little. Far from one of the best horrors I’ve seen, but not a bad way to spend 88 minutes.

This was even more amazing the second time around, which is why I’ve put it up to a 5.

Obviously, the best thing about this movie is the relationship between the two characters, and both Chalamet and Hammer do an impeccable job. The way they look at each other and hold each other is just so raw & real.

The cinematography is wonderful throughout, though quite subtle, it’s an aesthetically beautiful piece of film. The dull colouring of the movie is…

Found this to be a really solid effort from Netflix. The lead performance from Gyllenhaal was terrific as usual, and I also loved some of the voice acting from the rest of the cast, particularly Riley Keough. Single location movies are great when done right, and this one was incredibly tense and engaging from start to finish. There’s some good character development, music was utilised well, and the mystery/drama is fun to follow along and try to work out…
