While I don't usually watch documentaries, this one was excellent. Rarely am I moved to tears in the manner I watched Mr. Rogers in this film. I am a child of the '80s and grew up watching Mr. Rogers. I knew very little of his story, however.

It was fantastic to see Mr. Rogers stand up for PBS in congress. It moved me to tears. But I loved how this documentary displayed Fred Roger's understanding of the gospel message. As…

    The Birth of a Nation

One of my favorite sports commentators Bomani Jones, always says, "The South won." He uses this phrase as a double entendre. When you think of the rap game, the New York or West Coast rappers are considered the greatest. But in the late '90s, southern rappers started to take over, including the Atlanta-based group Outkast. However, the implied other meaning is that the South didn't lose the Civil War. The Birth of a Nation makes this point.

    Although the film's…

Rogue Nation provides a couple of callbacks from the previous films. We meet Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), who reaches for a rabbit's foot keychain while in a torture room with Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise). In Mission: Impossible III, the Syndicate used the codeword Rabbit's Foot to describe a biological hazard of significant destructive power. Both callbacks connect to the Syndicate, which we learn more about in Rogue Nation.

The Syndicate is what makes this film interesting. Often we have had…

So here is another pattern I am noticing in these films. Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) are the only consistent characters. Yet Rhames only gets an uncredited cameo in this film.

Hunt has reported to a different person for each film. Thankfully this is the first film to break away from the tired plot devise having a double agent. Instead, they kill off the IMF and introduce Jeremy Renner as William Brandt, whose mysterious past connects…

Anytime Warner Bros. announces a new Batman project, I look at the casting list, and I think to myself, "that's horrible casting. It won't be great as the last one. " Of course, I go ahead and watch it anyway, and I am proven wrong.

My earliest memory of Batman on-screen, at least, is Michael Keaton in his 1989 film. While my sentiments were correct after he and Tim Burton left the franchise, I finally accepted Christopher Nolan and Christian…

I attempted multiple times to watch the original film and could never get through without falling asleep.  I chose not to re-watch it for the 2021 version because why bother?

As the title card revealed, this is the first of a multi-part film.  I think dividing the book's story into multiple parts is an intelligent approach.

The film invites us to learn how a new messiah steps into his role.  The parents of a young man Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet),…
