I really liked that you could always sense that they still loved each other, even though their personal needs were rightly driving their divorce.
Some people just don't belong together.
The writing in this was obviously fantastic. Nicole's long dialogue to Nora about Charlie was perfect. A slow-reveal of her true feelings and a spot-on explanation of how she gets to where she was at that point in the story was phenomenal. And Charlie's explosion at the end, with the throw in about their son's safety, was unbelievably honest.
Johansson's and Driver's delivery of Baumbach's words is what made this work for me. I was astounded at how likable each of the characters remained while they were going through this painful situation. That was the true strength of this film.
