Brian Joynt’s review published on Letterboxd:
This makes two times I've watched this now, and while on the surface it can seem like a generic heist movie, it's actually not at all. It's a heist movie and a crime movie, and there's quite a few classic scenes. But what revs up this movie so good for me is Gerard Butler as Big Nick, turning in an over-the-top, awesome portrayal as a dirty, hard, gritty special unit cop determined to take down a crew lead by Pablo Schreiber's Ray Merrimen. Yes, it borrows from Heat and a few other heist movies, but Heat is a movie I like, and I wish more movies borrowed from it.
One of the best action/heist/crime movies to come out in the past few years. Looking forward to the sequel.
