    The Exorcist

Despite having never seen the whole film before, I have a history with The Exorcist. When I was young, my family had a CD loaded with iconic horror themes including Halloween, Jaws, and Nightmare on Elm Street. We had some sort of CD/Karaoke machine that my siblings and I used to feature these themes. There were also pre-downloaded song lyrics on the machine. One of the songs we would often sing based off reading the lyrics was Michael Jackson's "Smooth…

    Spider-Man 2

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I've recently begun revisiting favorite films of mine that I own on blu-ray with the commentary track turned on. While I am able to often gain interesting insights, it does tend to lesson the immersion, with the audio essentially being non-existent with the added commentary. Going back to this film, I could not bring myself to set the blu-ray settings to anything different to what audiences would have experienced the opening night in 2004, even if that meant I could…

    The Irishman

The Irishman wasn’t exactly a film I loved on first viewing, which is not surprising. I’ve considered myself a fan of movies, at least more so than the average person, since sometime in high school. This viewing confirmed to me that even a year and a half ago when I first watched this, I really didn’t have a strong enough appreciation of film, or filmmaking in general, to really even remotely comprehend just how powerful this film is.

    Those fleeting…

  • Things

I'm really not sure if a review or rating alone can actually justify the bizarreness of this film. I took a nap intentionally in the middle of this, although this was more due to a lack of sleep and working in the morning. The timing of the nap was not a bad spot to pause, as it was around this point when "Things" started to take over. Watching this alone and sober was pretty stupid, but I had more fun watching this compared to most mainstream commercial films.

So I’m watching this movie on my unfortunately rather small TV in my room (that I have one at all is a blessing) because my family was using the big TV to watch Modern Family for the too many-ieth time.

Once they finished up, my younger brother took over to watch the Nuggets v Suns game. I’d say I’m an NBA fan, but my beloved Pacers had a catastrophic season, the most embarrassing since the one containing The Malice in the…

    The Art of Self-Defense

I expected this to be a self-satisfied quirky indie comedy, and while it still is a little bit, it’s actually a Fight Club rip off. And you know what? Fight Club happens to be a very good movie.
