I admit I'm probably not the audience for this, but this was an unfunny joke that was about an hour too long. Not without its moments, but I can't remember the last time I was so relieved by the credits
Saw this at 9:45am at TIFF and whoo boy, I can't imagine a more miserable way to start the day.
"Blue Ruin" and "Green Room" were practically cheerful compared to this
Imagine a cross between "Carrie" and "Blue is the Warmest Color" as done by a very understated and humanist director and you'll get a general idea
Like if "The Edge of Seventeen" was fantastic instead of OK
