Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame ★★★★★

This movie just keeps on hitting me hard every single time I watch it. From the call backs to the sweeping epic scale of it all, to the farewells to characters who have been in my life for around a a decade, to the awesome fan service littered throughout, Avengers: Endgame just continues to deliver one of the best movie experiences there is.

With a 3 hour run time that comes and goes as if the film were only 2 hours long, Endgame is just the bravest and most large scale movie there ever has been and it's mind blowing that it actually delivered so much of what I hoped and expected from a concluding chapter to such an expansive universe. The stakes are higher than ever, the visual effects are more beautiful, the score is even more sweeping and it's all brought together very nicely by it's large heart, that being the core cast, the original Avengers from all the way back in 2012, who continue to grow and evolve even in this movie, sharing some of the best chemistry in movie history and each getting their chance to be truly incredible. The two main deaths in this movie still evoked a large amount of emotion from me even on this watch and that's just a testament to how much Endgame's screenplay makes me care even more about these characters and where they end up.

The movie is just a beautiful send off for so many characters from start to finish. It also signifies a closing chapter of not just the MCU, but my own life. Watching Endgame reminded me of when I was 8, seeing The Avengers for the first time in a cinema back in 2012 and being amazed by how cool it all was. The Avengers completely pales in comparison to Endgame in terms of scope and epicness, and that's important to me because Endgame set the new benchmark for leaving me in awe, the same way it's 2012 predecessor did. I felt like a little kid again, being rewarded with incredible sequence after incredible sequence, being spoiled rotten with heaps upon heaps of fan service.

Avengers: Endgame stands as the crowning achievement of the superhero genre for multiple reasons but the most important reason is that it absolutely reminded me why I just love cinema and superhero movies so much. It made me feel like a kid again, and I really need that feeling more than ever at this moment in my life.
