Chris’s review published on Letterboxd:
Tries to be too many things at once. A few scenes are shot beautifully, especially at the beginning. Johnny Deep seems to be phoning his performance in. The cast is ridiculously large and wasted for the most part.
Great supporting characters in the form of Johnny Depp's hair and his shades though.
In the end it's quite a depressing story but the film never manages to make you care enough. Contrary to the movie's title, it's not about cocaine at all - it's about a boy trying to get his father's approval and love.
