The 80s carry fond memories of dark fantasy worlds that shaped my impressionable years. Some of these entries are simply that - watches logged but not seen in decades. And there are others that are inspired first-time watches, I've seen reviewed on here or recommended. Sometimes the wonder of technology mystifies me but when I have an abundance of collective intelligence at my fingertips such as here, the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

I suspect my B sensibilities are a major factor as to why I have always gravitated towards films by hands on visionary John Carpenter. 'There are no two ways about it, I am notoriously known for my bad memory. Regardless, this will always preside in my go to sci-fi slash horror. Immeasurably ticks all the boxes when it comes to chilling aesthetics and tenebrous ambience that denote a good horror. Also his criminally overlooked 'The Fog' needs to be mentioned. He assembled returning actors and new talent to bring this classic styled ghost story to life.

Another auteur with an interesting skillset was Clive Barker who took his novella, 'The Hellbound Heart', adapted it into a screenplay and finally directed the retitled 'Hellraiser'. A beautiful work of art, I watched as a teen when it was first released and the experience opened my eyes to a new era in horror.
