After a second viewing, I definitely have a better grasp on what I was watching. I paid closer attention to the color symbolism and noticed that Barry was paranoid and avoidant of love. It lurked in the blurry background for portions of the movie. Toward the end, he’s actively moving toward it and accepting it. Love empowers him to stand up for himself and to challenge his boundaries. It’s deserving of an extra half a star, for sure.

Did exactly what it needed to do. Just enough hack and slash, but more importantly, establishes X perfectly. Mia Goth’s monologue in the final act was definitely a highlight, thought the final act in general is what really bumped this up an extra 1/2 star for me. If you like X and want more lore, this is for you.

Finally a hero who is really portrayed more human. This Batman makes mistakes, but manages to overcome them. This was a wild 3 hour ride with plenty of twists and had plenty of detective work to keep things driving forward. At the very least it’s on par with Dark Knight and may even be better in some instances.

The whole cast killed their roles, but Paul Dano especially mastered it. It’s like if he reprised his role in Prisoners and got to expand in it ten-fold.

Can’t wait for a sequel and make it four hours I don’t give a shit.

Eye for an eye so the plot can keep pushing forward. Enjoyed this a lot, but it also feels like an amalgamation of other movies I’ve seen. No shame in that, nor does that make this any less of an enjoyable experience. No dialogue for the first 25 minutes told the story better than words could have. I actually hoped that most of the movie would work that way since Macon Blair’s somber attitude grabbed my attention so well. I’ll go out on a limb and call this a revenge flick with heart lmao.
