Such a gem of a sequel. Definitely in the top 10 of horror movie part 2s!

Hadn’t seen this in forever, but I watched it to contemplate whether I wanted to see the new live action version. I forgot how magical this film was, and definitely think it holds up great after all this time.

Overall I think this was an enjoyable ride with plenty of character moments to love. However, there were quite a few ideas, that while subversive and fresh, needed a lot more development. The new cast was stretched paper thin, and the killer plot should have had a complete overhaul during the screenwriting process. Definitely an improvement in many areas over Scream 2022, but it will be hard to watch this one without thinking of all the ways this could have been even better.

Effective in its simplicity, fast pace, and tense set pieces, but ultimately comes up short with a very underwhelming and unmemorable climax.
