Brooks’s review published on Letterboxd:
Cruella is stylish, fun, and most importantly what these Disney live-action re-imaginings should be: it pays respect to the original source material but ultimately charts its own path and can stand on its own.
We get a glimpse of classic Disney villainy that has been sorely lacking in the modern-day dull and nuanced grey area villains. Cruella isn’t necessarily a good person, but it’s certainly fun to see the story from her perspective. Emma Stone is transformative and Emma Thompson is a more psychotic Miranda Priestly.
Overall, definitely in the top tier of these live-action Disney films.
