Revisiting Studio Ghibli: An Animated Journey

Castle in the Sky isn't just a another magical Ghibli Anime. It's actually also a epic action adventure film, and it has all the hallmarks to make it an exciting one. There are myths, treasure, magic stones, a heir princess, a powerful enemy, highly advanced robots, it even has a giant floating castle in the sky hidden inside the clouds.

The main thing making Castle in the Sky so exciting though is it's exceptional…

For some reason 'Nausicaä' didn't resonate with me at all the first time I watched it many years ago. It was actually one of the very first anime movies that i ever saw except for a few Dragon Ball Z movies. Not sure if it was the Japanese language, the plot, the art style or all of the above. I just remember being unimpressed and disappointed despite it being in the IMDB top250 list at the time (which was still…

“When a man with a .45 meets a man with a rifle, the man with a pistol will be a dead man.”

While this may not be an original and even though Yojimbo is definitely the superior film, i just can't deny how incredibly awesome and fun A Fistful of Dollars is.

Clint Eastwood is glorious in his role as the "man with no name". His stoic presence and few words attitude make him the perfect anti-hero. Volonté on the…

    The Godfather: Part II

    ★★★★½

"If anything in this life is certain, if history has taught us anything, it’s that you can kill anyone."

A superb sequel, love the flashbacks with De Niro as Vito Corleone. There was a long time when i preferred Part II over the first film, but having seen both again back to back i think Part I is actually superior, because ultimately it just has the better story and characters.

This is still a magnificent classic though and one that definitely deserves it's status.

When an executive of a shoe company is extorted into paying ransom for the kipnapped son of his driver. He is forced to chose between his dream to own a majority shareholding of the company, or to pay the ransom to save the boy but be put into a huge debt and lose his job, his house and his lifelong dream.

Let me first start this by saying, happy birthday Toshiro Mifune (1920 - 1997) Who would have been 101…

    Finally the wait is over..

I will probably be seen as bias (and maybe i am) cause i'm a big fan of the original Frank Herbert novel, which i've read 3 times in the past six years or so plus also listened to the amazing audiobook. But really, what an incredible powerful film Dune (part one) has become. I was honestly quite worried as it is a difficult story to film. Which has allready been tried in the past (to…
