I had a nice nap for the middle third of this long ass car movie but then the final race had me aggressively bouncing my leg off the floor-- terribly exciting stuff. Bale is fun when he does loud and British; the weird Corporate Teamwork Is Nothing But Trouble climax is pretty funny given I saw this at the final ever Fox press screening before Disney start running things. A very manly film I will never think about again.
I worry sometimes as a sentimental white person that I can fall for the most conventional clichés in films about black culture, but TLBMISF felt like the real deal. The first 10 minutes are extraordinary, I didn't breath once, and although it gets a little less inventive later on, it's a really beautiful portrayal of spacial romance and a city I can't wait to visit.
