Ryan Francis’s review published on Letterboxd:
I kinda had a strong distaste going for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World when I first saw it. I mean, I thought it was okay, but I guess not really my kind of movie at that time in my life. Since 2010, I've seen parts of it on TV and such but haven't actually given the entire film itself another shot until now. And, thankfully, I now see whatever I was missing before. It's really great.
I think a big part of it is becoming more and more familiar (and enamored) with Edgar Wright's particular style and humor over the years; it's actually awesome seeing actors other than Simon Pegg and Nick Frost within his type of film-making. Scott Pilgrim is thoroughly amusing, fast-paced, packed with spot-on performances and visuals, and often quite hilarious. I'm really glad that I finally gave it another watch to see that.
Oh, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. <3
