Ricardo Franco’s review published on Letterboxd:
Toy Story 2 somehow manages to be an improvement over the original in almost every way.
The animations is the first thing that is noticeably better. As a result the story doesn’t feel limited by the technology and the world feels more fully realized.
My only complaint is that some elements are very similar to the original. Lost toy, other toy goes and gets them, they go somewhere interesting (pizza planet, al’s toyshop), and Buzz and Woody end up riding some sort of toy vehicle in the climax. I think it’s done better here though, except for Pizza Planet being a lot cooler than Al.
I laughed a lot more than I though I would throughout, the humor was a genuine treat.
I hadn’t seen Toy Story 2 in a really long time and it’s great. Even better than the original.
