Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street

    ★★

Some things aren't adding up for me. Patton got full blown AIDS, and somehow got life saving drugs when he was living off the grid in Mexico? Homophobic YouTube comments from the future forced Patton out of show business in 1985? Patton's apparent inability to "act straight" might have doomed him to an acting career of character roles instead of heterosexual leading man roles? Oh, the horror.

"Scream, Queen!" might have been decent at a half-hour long and without the…

A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge

    ★★★

There are some weird comic moments, like the exploding parakeets and the exploding hot dogs. The ending is kind of lame. But overall this sequel isn't that bad. It's a step down from the original for sure, but there are a few entertaining setpieces. The transformation at the pool party is a highlight. I think the score is better and I've always liked Mark Patton's performance. I think he does a good job of acting, and it's a shame he didn't do more.

Sorry, friends and neighbors. I really hated "Hereditary." It genuinely puzzles me as to why this film is getting such great reviews and why it seemed so awful to me on multiple levels. My taste meter must be way off kilter. I don't even know how such a film got made in the first place. I promise that I'm not trying to be contrarian, but it seems like, once again, I'm far, far outside the critical consensus when it comes…

    The Amazing Spider-Man

The worst movie I've seen in years and the worst summer blockbuster I've seen since 2002's "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack Of The Clones". At least "Indiana Jones And The Crystal Skull" had the killer ant sequence. I can't think of a single standout scene in "The Amazing Spider-Man".

I thought it was dreadfully dull, if I had been a kid I would have been bored out of my skull. It's some of the laziest plotting I've ever seen.…
