Incredible how this is basically Turning Red in that its central conflict stems from the tiger mom not being able to accept her daughter for who she is and its resolution is found in the acceptance between them.   Very binge-able and highly entertaining plotting. However it suffers from a rather reprehensible worldview that continues to perpetuate the status quo and the ills of our capitalist society. Squid Game tries to be zeitgeist by showing all the failures of our society like the extreme wealth inequality, lack of social safety nets, brutalization and killing of labor unions, etc. And the rage caused by these is absolutely there but it points its fingers at the wrong thing - some abstract…
