    This is a silly movie that actually plays very well. While the plot isn’t particularly special, the script really carries it, and who doesn’t love laughing at Nazis? The cast was fun, Yorkie was easily my favorite character. ScarJo was okay, but I didn’t think her performance  was worth an Oscar nom. Additionally, I loved the colors. I’ve never seen a dictatorship look so vibrant! Also loved the anachronistic pop songs performed in German in the beginning/end.

    This short film is basically perfect. So simple. So beautiful. I loved it. Probably gonna watch it again tonight. Definitely gonna make my kids watch it someday. 

    Also: How did they make the balloon dance around like that?!

    What a wild ride. This movie is very hard to watch, but man it’s worth watching. Being an American, I’m regularly shown WWII from a western perspective, one that rarely focuses on the sacrifices the USSR was forced to make. This film shines a light on some of those horrors and the pure relentlessness the Germans showed during their Russian campaign.
