like. i get that the hulu doc paid macfarland for his interview, and that's objectively fucked up, but i don't think you can say that a film made and financed by the media group that marketed the fest (vice + fuckjerry, truly the bloomsbury set for the millennial age) is inherently more ethical simply because we can't see the money moves.

from the moment the score groans to life and the images strain onto the screen, there will be blood moves like a nightmare, with a dreamer's logic. the film makes sense, but anderson has a way of making causality feel alien; we travel from a dusty rope penetrating the earth to a blood-stained manor moved by what star sign? by whose rules? under god's kaleidoscopic vision.
