Robert Franco’s review published on Letterboxd:
i think pablo larrain is a very gifted stylist but it always feels like there’s something missing from his films. perhaps this is how people who hate late malick feel? idk, it’s like watching something that looks as good as Phantom Thread but has nothing all that interesting to say other than “look at how sad this broad was” or “man, it must suck to be a royal”.
i’ve seen people criticize kristen stewart’s performance but i think that’s unfair. i think it’s good in the sense that i think that she’s giving larrain exactly what he wants. i don’t think the problem is her, i think the problem is larrain’s personal preferences regarding performance.
great porsche. love that porsche.
