    First off, this movie is set in London, and I don’t think I’ve ever been more aware that something WASN’T written by British people than I was watching this.     Hooptober #7: The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

    I don't typical have the best time watching silent films. I keep trying but with a few exceptions (Modern Times, Passion of Joan of Arc) they often feel like homework.  While I didn't find it particularly scary, this one mostly held my interest. Definitely aided by the unique art direction and twisty storytelling, it's pretty clear why it remains so highly regarded.
