One of the better movies about being too horny on Christmas. Alan Cumming is a delight. Small, crowded spaces make me feel a lot differently than they used to.

Once in a while I really love a movie and then I don’t watch it for fifteen years and forget everything about it. This is a really dumb thing to do but a pretty great thing to have done.

My wife wanted to watch this, I think for general Home Alone nostalgia reasons. We had already watched the original recently. Even she got bored two thirds of the way through and turned it off. The second star is for Tim Curry saying "pizza".

This is a pretty good movie if you want to look at and feel emotional about horses. Now I want to watch the 1994 version which has Alan Cumming as the horse, Sean Bean is in it, and also Mr. Carson??

I don’t know how to rate this. I’m not even sure if I like it? I don’t dislike it. It just is what it is. I’m haunted by the word “papes”.

  • The Lodge

    The Lodge

    ★★★

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Alright well this had some problems. I liked it though. I was pretty into it when it seemed like they were dead and in purgatory. I was disappointed when they showed the harness and radio and it was clear it was a trick. The plan was too elaborate and extreme—designed to trick the viewer more than it was a believable plan for two young kids. My other complaints are more trivial, and it has enough great set design, cinematography, and atmosphere to make up for it. Honestly though, it’s okay if it turns out your characters really are dead! Run with it.

OK so I liked this a lot but also I’ve read some reviews from people familiar with the source material and I wish it had been the movie they wanted. I think I probably would have preferred that movie too.

I liked this the first time I watched it. I really liked it this time.
