    Jurassic Park

“If Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don’t eat the tourists.”

What a fantastic film this remains after 25 years.

Take that opening twenty minutes or so. The film opens on a new dinosaur being moved into captivity when it breaks loose and a park worker loses his life. That opening three minutes creates the right amount of tension, mystery and intrigue to propel the film forward. Mostly because we never get a full reveal of what these…

  • Colossal

"So, you don't remember anything we talked about last night, huh?"

I went into this expecting it to be more of a comedy and was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case. Instead it's much more of a commentary on a part of today's society.

The story centres around Gloria who, after moving back to her home town after, starts to discover that she is connected to monster attacks in South Korea

The performances are great all around. Anne…

    “Light the fuse.”

Yes. I watched this again this evening despite only watching it a few weeks ago.

It remains my favourite. Even in a post-Fallout world. I feel like this film has the most fun the Mission:Impossible formula. Brad Bird takes every delight is showing how all their tech malfunctions along the way. Everything from to the phone box to the gloves on the Burj Khalifa.

I really love how this film starts to give us more of an…

    Ant-Man and the Wasp

“Do you guys just put ‘quantum’ in front of everything?”

Ant-Man and The Wasp has the unenviable task of following up Marvel’s biggest film to date. Avengers: Infinity War. You’d that might it make it super serious, showing what these characters were doing that was so important that they missed out on the events of that film. Well, you’d be wrong. Peyton Reed and co. decided to make a funny as hell Marvel and they succeeded. It’s a fairly flimsy…

    "Logan, you still have time."

I can think of only one word to describe this film: brutal. Emotionally, physically and just brutal. Wolverine is a difficult character to portray and Hugh Jackman has perfected his portrayal over the last 15 years. But in Logan, we see almost a new take from Jackman. The R rating certainly loosened the reigns but they seem to have been able to take away from the comfort zone that they've been in.

    As I said,…

    “Oh, you know Eathan.”

So, they did it again. They again made a thrilling, edge of your seat action movie.

Say what you will about Tom Cruise but he is someone who seems to always put everything up there for ten audience. You get the feeling that he is there, doing all these incredible stunts and the movie, and the whole franchise, is the better for it. The Mission films feel wonderfully “lo-fi” compared to other blockbusters these days that…
