Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

"All the streets are silent", expect when Rick Dalton's got a shotgun I'll tell you that.

Definetly Tarantino's most mature film that isn't all about just being a fun, dumb movie which also manages to be a fun, dumb movie at the same time. Initially I wasn't a fan of Tarantino's unsubtleness with this film, bringing in a narration 3/4 of the ways through and cutting away to a 10 minute flashback solely for one joke because I felt it was very "fuck you in Quentin Tarantino I can do what I want" but I've realised something, I've realised that you can do stuff that is seemingly inconsistent and pointless as long as it doesn't slow the narrative. As long as a film keeps the audience enaged and entertained, like it did me the whole time, a film can go anyway it wants and in any fashion it wants. And that is just a testament to Quentin's brillaint writing here that he manages to balance all these seemingly unrelated scenes in a incredibly entertaining way.
