The only aspect of Open 24 Hours that didn't suck was the art direction and cinematography. Outside of that it was unimaginative and clichéd to the point of being overtly generic and barely watchable. You have a terrible villain, lame scares, and a troubled heroine with unreliable mental problems. Toss in a boring and weak story where the heroine faces terror on the clichéd first day or work gone horribly wrong. When your rain machine is the best over actor you know the movie is a stinker.
Embodiment of Evil is probably as good as it could be. Coffin Joe was more effective in black and white but the real shocks here are with gore effects earning this as a nice coda.
In my college days I saw the clip of the Goddess Bunny online and it scared the hell out of me. You might know the one, she is tap dancing and then stares into the camera. Of course the creepiness of it was taken out of context. When I rented this from a great Chicago video store, I was prepared to be frightened but actually enjoyed the documentary on the Goddess and her life struggles. Compelling, entertaining, and containing none of the creepiness that the viral video sensationalized.
More stupidity. I have friends that think that this is the gospel. Maybe I should find new friends or maybe that explains why I don't watch movies with them anymore.
