This year's Mad Max: Fury Road, meaning it's gonna crack its way into Best Picture conversation and, ultimately, the nominees. It has a slow but purposeful start, but the final act is so rewarding. At one point, I caught myself saying, "Wow."
When the end credits came up, starting with "directed by Matt Reeves," the audience began applauding. Seriously, how often does that happen nowadays? Especially in the dead of summer at 11 a.m.?
