I essentially didn't see the last 30 minutes.

letterboxd: the symbolism in “melting” is absolutely astounding. an extremely simple, yet clever piece of media that was way ahead of its time.

I wouldn't call this a movie as much as an experience. That sounds pretentious, because it is, but it is also true. I liked the brutalist architecture a lot, and I think I don't even need to mention how fantastic the score is (it's Jóhann Jóhannsson, after all). It is also both way too short and the perfect length, if that makes any sense.

Yi Yi is about life and death, about family and friendship, about hope and regret. It's about nothing yet everything, enormously humane and incredibly beautiful, hilarious and emotional—and it's the one film I can not stop thinking about.
