I don't quite know why but I love this movie so much. It would probably make it into my top 10 favorites of all time. Part of me is like oh zam I kinda wish I could be that smart and productive all the time, bro is living the dream once he manages to get past the side-effects, but another part is reading into a full-on analysis of the message of this movie. Like is the director trying to say…

Baldwin is so articulate and moving in his speech, and Buckley just...isn't. It's clear Buckley has the personality of an entertainer and tried his best to win over the crowd with his articulate speech and exaggerated gestures, and even his humor towards the end but it just feels like posturing.

You know I'd like to review this from the perspective of "oh this was meant for an audience in the 80s yadda yadda yadda" but jesus fucking christ how was this not a "this aged poorly" movie when it released???? I'm pretty sure there's no more than 5 minutes of time in this movie that they managed to go without making a racist or homophobic joke, or just committing a straight up felony against someone. Who said "you know what makes nerds look better? Assault!"

Watching this movie is just sitting and vibing for an hour and a half listening to Matthew McConaughey just randomly show up and drop some banger lines, and just appreciating the vibes of every second. Story wise it has the vibes of a run-on sentence - I kept feeling like it would be like every other movie and all the stories would converge into a single meaningful ending, but this is just a…
