Exposition is rarely as fun as it is in Martin Scorsese films. He can make time fly while having the film being 70% exposition but it never feels like I'm being told too much. The part where Sam and Nicky explain how the casino works is so great, it is loaded full with exposition but it serves a purpose.

Sharon Stone's and Joe Pesci's characters are annoying at certain points in the film but I think that makes the movie even better.

    The Red Shoes

Movies about artmaking have always managed to surprise me in a good way. Birdman, Day for Night, Living In Oblivion, and La La Land are just a few examples of great movies about artmaking and The Red Shoes just joined them on my shortlist of movies about artmaking. It's beautiful, encaptivating and manages to make me forget about the existense of time while watching it.

If you like Baz Luhrmans other films you will probably like this one too. This movie is really fast and weirdly edited at times, with the camera moving at a high speed flying through windows, door frames, casinos you name it, just about anything that can fit. I thought that the theater had accidentally started playing the pre-screening songs in the wrong room when Doja Cat started playing, it felt so out of place when it happened.

    I didn't enjoy…

  • Windfall

This should have been a 30 minute short. It's not often that I feel movies that are only 1 and a half hour long to be a drag. Windfall started out great but as it kept going along I began to like it less. Barely anything happens in the movie and when something happens there is nothing interesting done with the issue at hand. I didn't like it but I also didn't hate it, Windfall has its good moments early…
