I bet Tarkovsky would be proud
A genious, surreal, tragic and hilarious masterpiece.
Each image feels like a painting, quite Edward Hopper esque but colorless and grey.
The use of wide anges to allow for several different people's perspectives on eachother is also genious and gives the long, grey and static shots extreme depth and makes them very captivating.
My third time watching this and it's still one of the bet surrealist films ever made. A masterfully crafted surreal nightmare mixed with uncomfortable dark comedy, stunning visuals/black & white imagery and haunting sound design.
Even though i see mulholland drive as a better film, eraserhead is much more touching and personal to me. Whatever meaning the film has i always manage to relate to Henry in an emotional way even though i'm not a parent and haven't gone through what Henry goes through.
