About 45 minutes in I realized I was not in fact watching toy story 4. I was delighted by the change, my 6 year old niece was not though. Such is life.

It Comes at Night is a film the truly diverts from traditional movies in its catagory, for better and for worse.

Without revealing too many plot details I will give my analysis of the pros and cons that I took away from the film.

    4/5 Non-Linear Plot:
It Comes At Night keeps things very close to the chest. Nothing is outright given to you. Almost every aspect of the film is ambigualous and mysterious and many things never…

I love movies that can hold suspense and keep you wondering for the whole movie. This film takes and familiar concept with a minimalist approach and boldly succeeds. Acting, Camera Angles and lighting is all it really takes and it worked.

A rare success in a genre overly saturated in haunted horror. This film managed to be tweaked in just the right way to keep the suspense and narrative. It has its faults but I was throughly impressed. Excited to see what the director has in store next

  • Hush

    ★★★★

In "Julia's Eyes" we were dealing with a blind woman against an ugly killer

In Hush we are dealing with a deaf woman against a talkative killer.

I hope the next movie deals with a woman who can't smell against a killer with horrible BO.

How long could you keep running for? How long can you sleep before you have to run again? Would you compromise your values to survive?

This film is an original and relevant horror movie that, in my humble opinion, takes the high road instead of decending into a crap pit of cliches that other films of its kind have done.

Minimalist horror is quickly becoming a favorate of mine because it causes directors to get really creative in how…
