Star Wars Ranked

Because everyone seems to have a list like this…

  • The Empire Strikes Back

    1.The Empire Strikes Back

Is it possible to make a more perfect action/sci-fi/fantasy blockbuster-adventure? I think not. Expands upon the original in every way without diminishing it, ends on a cliffhanger, and still manages to feel finished.

  • Star Wars

    2.Star Wars

A simple story (or dare i say, a classic one) – and expertly told. This movie is truly a gateway to a fascinating, new universe.

  • Return of the Jedi

    3.Return of the Jedi

A very fine addition and satisfying conclusion of the original trilogy, even if it can’t quite live up to its two predecessors.

  • Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

4.Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

A definite step up from Episodes 1 and 2, but ultimately still part of a pointless trilogy: We never needed to know how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader (let alone that he was supposed to be some sort of Jesus-like Saviour).

  • Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones

5.Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones

Uhm, the seismic bombs were pretty cool, and sand apparently goes everywhere, but the rest?

  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

6.Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Some rebels have stolen the Death Star plans; we know that much from the very first Star Wars movie. But what else does this movie add to the Star Wars universe? Nothing.

Just like the Solo movie. (Okay, that one actually took things away, but that’s a different story.)

  • Solo: A Star Wars Story

    7.Solo: A Star Wars Story

Just as unnecessary as the Prequels.

  • Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

8.Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Why is every character in this movie trying to win the award for most stupid person in the galaxy?

Oh, and Darth Vader supposedly built C-3PO? I still can’t get over this nonsense!

  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens

    9.Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Other than fantastic production design, there’s nothing new here and nothing to be amazed about. Doesn’t feel like Star Wars at all and makes the prequels actually look good.

  • Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

10.Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

More of the same. Superficial entertainment.

  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi

    11.Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Encapsulates everthing that is wrong with movies of the “Marvel generation”: superficial characters, incomprehensible storylines, horrible dialogue, bad pacing, heavy with pathos, and weird political agendas thrown into the mix… Somehow this feels even less like a Star Wars movie than Episode 7.
