Rosemary's Baby

Rosemary's Baby ★★★★½

A natural follow-up to 'Repulsion', but one that, in comparison, feels distinctively tamer in its horror elements, which only serves to embellish Polanski's favored brand of exploring excruciatingly dark physical and psychological torment within a certain casual formality of the traditional character study/relationship drama. Farrow's performance and the nightmare sequence are obvious all-timers. If it was released today, everyone would make sure to comment on how the marketing campaign was misleading and this is not really a horror movie.
