Spider-Man: Far from Home

Spider-Man: Far from Home ★★★★

8/10

My 2019 Rankings

This film is pretty different from Homecoming, but in a good way. Where Homecoming was very confined to the “neighborhood” aspect, this film brings Spider-man into a more global situation as a solo act.

Tom Holland has shown to be the best Soider-man so far. He plays the character with the humor and awkwardness that should go with a teenage superhero. He also plays very nicely into the innocence and naivety of a teenager.

Zendaya adds a nice touch as MJ. Her awkwardness and witty humor is a nice addition to the Spider-man world. It plays kind of like an awkward young romance which is great for this version.

Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio is prettty terrific. It is a very interesting bad guy to throw at us. I kind of like the fact that they stay away from villains with powers in this franchise. Mysterio was a more interesting character than just another bad guy with some sort of mutated powers.

The special effects are also amazing in this. The Mysterio sequences are all incredible. There are some tremendous visuals in this film that I was actually in awe of. That isn’t something that normally happens for me in these films.

The story does act as an epilogue to the Infinity Saga and it won’t blow your socks off, but it is pretty imaginative and a lot of fun.
