  Watched this all the way through for the first time. I can understand why it’s a cult classics, but as far as gonzo blockbusters go, this one doesn’t work for me. The message at the heart of the film is that love will save the universe, but Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich have about as much chemistry as two stray alley cats in heat. The “meet cute” elements of the story aren’t developed enough to justify the lavish production.

  As an avid comic book reader, I’ve never loved the “every toy in the sandbox” multiverse approach to storytelling. This was a better movie than I expected, but still a mess of a pandering nostalgia trip that goes hard reminding you how much you loved Spider-Man, without giving you any new reasons to care about Spider-Man. I liked that the goal was to save the villains - they would have been the highlight of the film if it wasn’t frustratingly…

  This movie is about giant mutant cockroaches disguised as humans and yet the most unrealistic part is in the beginning when we learn that New York successfully quarantined Manhattan Island for two years to prevent a deadly virus from spreading.
