Rudis Muiznieks’s review published on Letterboxd:
I enjoyed it as best I could with the madness of trick-or-treaters and the eardrum-shatteringly loud barking they elicited from my dogs all evening. I wouldn't say it's up there with the classic J-horrors like Ringu and Pulse, but definitely along the same vein. My main complaint is that many of the scenes are so dark I couldn't really tell what was going on--almost a third of the film was just indistinct black smudges moving around against slightly-less-black backgrounds.
I'll probably give it a rewatch at some point when I can give it better attention, before I hit up any of the sequels.
