I just love films, that's all.
Unexpected shifts in emotion leading to erratic human behavior. Those were the scenes that work best. Seems like William Hurt was the ultimate 80s alpha male. Holly Hunter was the ultimate 80s more-cute-than-beautiful girl next door with a go-getter personality. She's really great, she gives one of my favorite performance ever. And then James Brooks casts himself in a role that could be considered self-loathing (perhaps too aware that he will be directing himself). But it provides a nice balance, the three of them. Interesting world to set a romantic comedy.

So, I may be a harsh to this film and I still don't like or love it, but it's quite better the idk time around. Marion Cotillard's performance is out of this world and so so so much deserving of the Oscar she received, none came close that year.
