Ruffa Ronan (Viola Davis stan)’s review published on Letterboxd:
This film is a deliberately unsettling drama-thriller; hey are engrossing but far from simple viewing. The Favourite, on the other hand, stands in stark stylistic distinction to these efforts, a diversification that shows the director's ever-increasing range. A much more intense emotional range that still retains traces of the bizarre elements that represent a hallmark of Lanthimos' work. The performances are top-notch, particularly those of Weisz and Colman, who each take turns as powerhouses on screen.
Oscar's talk! What award would I have given this film? As much as I can remember: Best Actress, Best Production Design, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Screenplay. I'm divided with Production Design and Best Actress but I think it would be really deserving. Best Supporting Actress, I think that this belonged to Regina King. Rachel Weisz already had her big year for The Constant Gardener so Regina all the way for me. I also think she had the BEST performance that year.
A for me
