My English teacher was determined to watch Donnie Darko with the class, despite it not being on the curriculum. He strongly maintained that it would be relevant to the next Emily Dickinson poem even though it probably wasn’t. We were pumped up, but it wasn’t going to be as straightforward as we initially thought. The odds were stacked against us finishing the film at all:
