This movies just more sad then anything. It's sad that the beginning of ambitious American cinema was stained with this, it's sad that it revived the KKK, and it's just sad that this ever existed. The merits this had on technique in filmmaking would have been naturally introduced as the medium progressed I'm not saying at all that people who praise this on those terms are excusing the movie it's just that I don't see those technical merits to be that interesting. For that I just don't see the purpose of this as educational material.
It was awfully boring too and did not need to be 3 hours.
